MetaKit is a local-first metadata tool for stock media creators.
Local data
MetaKit does not operate an account system or a MetaKit cloud for your media. Project records, AI results, export preferences, local directory permissions, and app-managed caches are stored locally on your Mac. MetaKit does not upload original image or video files to a MetaKit server.
AI analysis and third parties
When you choose to run AI analysis, MetaKit sends compressed images or sampled video frames, relevant metadata, and the clues you enter directly to the AI provider you selected. Providers may include Alibaba Qwen, OpenAI, Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude, or a compatible endpoint you configure. Your use of a provider is also governed by that provider's privacy policy and terms.
API keys
API keys are stored locally in MetaKit preferences for the selected provider and are used only to send requests directly to that provider. MetaKit does not send API keys to a MetaKit server. You can delete keys in MetaKit Settings at any time.
Files and retention
MetaKit accesses only files and folders you select or authorize. You can revoke access in macOS or remove local records and app-managed caches through Storage Management. Removing a project or cache in MetaKit does not delete original media files.
No tracking
MetaKit does not use advertising tracking, sell personal data, or include an in-app analytics service.
